Ruper Myer is Chairman of The Myer Family Company Pty Ltd and is
a Director of AMCIL Limited, DUI Limited, and Myer Holdings Ltd.
He serves as Chairman of the National Gallery of Australia and
as a Board Member of the National Gallery of Australia Foundation.
He also serves as Chairman of Kaldor Public Art Projects, as a Board
Member of The Felton Bequests Committee and as a Director
of The Myer Foundation.
He became a Member of the Order of Australia in January 2005 for
service to the arts, for support to museums and galleries, and to
the community through a range of philanthropic and service organisations.
His previous community activities have been as Chairman of the
NGV Foundation, International Social Service, WorkPlacement and
Mission Australias Youth Strategy and Advocacy Group, and
as a board member of The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and
a trustee of The National Gallery of Victoria. He chaired the Commonwealth
Governments Inquiry into the Contemporary Visual Arts and
Craft Sector which completed its report in 2002 and was a participant
in the Commonwealth Governments 2020 Summit in April 2008.
Rupert studied Commerce at Melbourne University, before continuing on
to Cambridge University, majoring in social and political sciences.
