Our story so far…

Text Box: Text Box: Currently the Jawun members are
meeting on a regular basis as a group and also engaging with IEP to kick start the Jawun Alumni program. So far we have started to develop a Jawun charter and the strategic pillars which we hope will provide greater support to you and other past secondees and start to break down the gap between people like ourselves, aboriginal communities and the ongoing IEP program.

Now that some sort of framework is in place for what we hope to achieve, we are starting down the path of working out the how…. This newsletter is one of a number of channels we hope to use to engage with you and other Jawun members. In the coming months, we will keep working to formalise the structure for the alumni including
developing the Jawun interstate links. We are starting to look at initiatives we can get involved in and what a valuable mentoring program would look like. We will be in contact with you shortly with further information about this.

In the meantime, if you have any ideas, please get in contact with the Jawun Alumni members via their email
address.

Jawun Committee Member Testimonial

I have come away from my secondment with a much greater respect for Aboriginal culture, and enormous respect for the extraordinary people who assist to run such isolated communities, with the many challenges they face on a daily basis. Despite being based in Cairns, I took satisfaction knowing in my own small way I was contributing to improving the lives of the Cape York people - which I was helping to make a difference. I welcome the opportunity to stay connected, and continue to contribute by participating and supporting Alumni activities and initiatives.”
